Wait, Portland as in Portland Oregon? Like Personal Telco Portland?

If it was me, I'd use 5.8GHz Ubiquiti Bullets with directional
antennas for the hop over the channel, running WDS to bridge, then use
NanoStations or similar, or Bullets with lower gain omni's (9 dBi) for
end-user coverage. High power is usually a waste for connecting
end-users, ask MetroFi. Oh, wait, you can't since they don't exist
anymore. I wouldn't bother with 11n, except maybe for the
cross-channel hop where it can give more capacity with wider 40 MHz
channels, since most users still have a/b/g/ client devices. Use
wires as much as possible to connect access points.

My $0.02.
