David:

Thanks so much for putting this program together!

SYN/HAK:

As I mentioned earlier, forwarding David@Element14's program!

He mentioned that the 200,000th member at Element14 is estimated around
August-September time frame.

Can those members at SYN/HAK that are interested in working on the Star
Wars themed project reply back to me at your leisure?

Ideally, I plan to understand who all want to collaborate on:

   - creating designs for the single board computers
   - come up with a parts list for newark's review
   - plan some time when we can all meet and build the circuits/models
   - I can provide help with videography and photography of capturing the
project's progress as we work together

Can't wait to hear what members of SYN/HAK think about participating in
Element14's program!

I hope this results in a successful project we can complete for both
Element14 as well as SYN/HAK!

FYI:

Did you know that the White House recently denied a petition to build a
real Death Star?

Bet you didn't.

Read all about that here:

And the whole debate of Death Star vs Borg Cube:

G, ****

** **

Sorry for the delay, I wanted to tie up some loose ends with what we were
trying to accomplish before I got something over to you. Below is a general
description of what we are looking to do… ****

** **

To celebrate our 200,000th community members we wanted to do something a
fun and quirky that we can put out there for our members. In the office we
are pretty big science fiction fans, and we have noticed that a lot of our
members are as well. So what we wanted to do was create a video that opens
up the conversation of who would win in a fight the Death Star or the Borg
Cube. We will be shooting this video using stop motion animation on a
raspberry pi camera. What we would like SYN/HAK help in is designing and
building the models of both using single board computers to control things
like led lights or whatever else you guys can come up with. ****

** **

The Challenge to your group is to build a Death Star and Borg Cube model,
incorporating a SBC and using parts available via Newark.com. these should
be no bigger than a bowling ball and do not need to be at scale (the death
star is significantly bigger). We would like you to document either through
a combination of photo, video and blogs the making of thee models, to be
posted on the element14 community after the video is launched. ****

** **

What are we going to do with it? ****

We will use it for the videos to promote our 200K celebration, and
potentially auction off the models with the proceeds given to a charity
depending on how much interest is there. ****

** **

What is in it for you guys? ****

We will give you a budget of $500 for parts and donate an additional $500
to the group as well as give global exposure to the SYN/HAK group through
our Global PR, Social Media and Community channels. ****

** **

The time to build would be negotiable depending on interest and getting the
parts in. ****

** **

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns ****
