TWIMC @ SYNHAK

Was it a practical joke by SH or just a lack of common courtesy and
punctuality?

This morning, I left my apartment at 10.30am, met a friend of mine - a
retired, union-shop electrician with 35 yrs experience in commercial
electrical work - at Panera Bread in Fairlawn for coffee and a chat about
the wonders of SH and the work to do at the new location.

We caught the 11.20am bus in Fairlawn, got off the bus at the Main Library,
walked the 3 1/2 blocks to 48 Summit St, and arrived at 11.45am.

NOBODY was there!

We were not happy to drag two power tool cases, two tool bags, and a laptop
on the bus from Fairlawn to downtown Akron, just to find out that nobody
showed up to open the door and let us get to work.

We waited outside the entrance for 30 minutes, until 12.15pm, getting
colder by the minute.

Since nobody from SH showed up at the new location, while we were standing
around outside the building in 40F temperature, we decided to go back to
Fairlawn and do something else for the afternoon.

If SH announces a project and sets a time and place for members and
non-members to meet, it is expected that the project leader (or some other
warm body) will on site at or before the designated time. Punctuality is
an excellent trait.

Regrettably, SH lost at least 10 volunteer man-hours of experienced labor
because nobody had the courtesy or sense of obligation to show up for the
project at the designated time.

No need for anybody from SH to reply or comment. The issue is past and
will be remembered as a chilly, time-wasting, learning experience by me and
my electrician friend. He is not likely to volunteer his time and
experience again, after what did not happen today.

I sincerely hope that the next project that SH plans to do will be managed
better and greater attention paid to the meeting/starting time by the
project leader.

Until another day,

PPP
