Howdy Hackers! I'm currently at 21 W North getting an idea of where to start with the move, so it is open as of 10:25 today. I'm thinking we'll start by packing the small and fragile first, then moving those items to 48 Summit. Things like computers, electronics, small hand tools, books, the small AC unit, the craft room, the kiosk, and anything that's already in a box. Lets try to group these items by type so that we don't end up with circuit boards in crafts or yarn with hand tools, etc. While those items are being transported and placed by the folks at 48 Summit, we'll be getting furniture, benches, larger electronics/tools ready for transport with the heaviest and largest saved for last so that we have the most room to maneuver. Bring yourself some gloves because its COLD over here.
Also, I found a Lenovo T420 in the Perkins room, it didn't have a name or do not hack sticker on it so I don't know if its anyone's current project. It has a Sandy Bridge Core i5, 4GB RAM, no battery or hard drive and a cracked LCD panel. I looked up the cost to get it running as a laptop and its about $125-$175 for a screen and battery. It can run with an external screen and power adapter and I already have a spare 100GB drive for this so I'm thinking that could be the 3D printer's replacement computer where it would slice objects and create 3D models REALLY well compared to its current 7 year old hardware. Any objections?
