Not that you won't get good answers here, but you may also want to check
with the newly formed Atlanta Flex/Flash User Group (www.affug.org) . Their
next meeting is actually next Wednesday the 18th of July, where the topic
will be Flex 3 and AIR.

I myself haven't had a chance to explore Flex very much yet, but I have been
attending the meetings, and some of those people are doing some really cool
stuff with it. You may also want to look into how AIR can help out in a
business environment. I think that will end up being my key to proving the
business case to be able to really roll into some Flex development at my
company.

My company wanted me to explore Flex and its
functionality so I started programming in Flex a few
months ago and done some basic stuff as well as an
interesting graphical mapping relationship
application. Now I'm presenting Flex and its
viability in our business environment to a group in
September. I wanted to see what other Flex
programmers thought about the product and its
usefulness compared to other web applications. From
what I've found so far there are a few things I like,
1) that it forces web programmers back into an object
oriented methodology, 2) the application still runs if
the web goes down (even though it might not be able to
access any database info), and 3) the binding features
to produce real time changes which looks especially
handy with the data service that we haven't gotten
yet. Let me know your thoughts.
