Good thinking. I do already have a windows media center in a media room, and
a DVR in another. But sure, why not yet one more place to record more shows
than I could ever watch? :-)  Seriously, though, it is indeed something to
think about. 
 
So, where with Windows you need to have the Media Center edition of Windows
XP (or Vista, I assume), what about with the Mac? Is it just a built-in
feature?

Or you can keep it and hook it up to your TV as a media center. That's what
I use my Mac Mini for. It's awesome.

Thanks, Steven. Those are indeed some good deals. Bummer. I've pretty much
committed to the guy selling me the mini at this point. I realize it's not
up to the specs of those capabilities you describe, so I may regret it. But
hey, I can resell it to someone and move up when I'm ready. Thanks for the
education, folks. :-) Hope others benefit.
