Yes, good point, and let me clarify to anyone concerned about this that when I brought it up, I did so here (rather than community) because I was asking the question about being able to run CF on whatever system someone might propose. But yes, on these more generic Mac topics, let's take those over to the "community" list. Thanks, all, for the discussions. /charlie

I tend to just use Joost for free streamed stuff. And now ABC is doing LOST episodes in streaming HD the day after the episode airs. I'll also torrent things to watch. I don't have any special software, as the regular installed media stuff on a Mac is solid. The beauty of it is the tiny form factor. It sits right next to my Wii and is about the same size. Since the HD isn't terribly large, I tend to use my upstairs PC as a storage location since it is 1TB of disk space. If you go that route, I'll put you in contact with one of my friends who's a nuts Mac guy. He uses his Mini like a Tivo. I suppose that if we continue the OT uses of a Mini that we ought to head over to community, so that we don't offend the regular list peeps. ----- Original Message ---- From: Charlie Arehart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, February 6, 2008 4:54:24 PM Subject: RE: [ACFUG Discuss] CF on a Mac--anyone have a system they want to sell? Good thinking. I do already have a windows media center in a media room, and a DVR in another. But sure, why not yet one more place to record more shows than I could ever watch? :-) Seriously, though, it is indeed something to think about. So, where with Windows you need to have the Media Center edition of Windows XP (or Vista, I assume), what about with the Mac? Is it just a built-in feature? /charlie _____ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of shawn gorrell Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2008 4:45 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ACFUG Discuss] CF on a Mac--anyone have a system they want to sell? Or you can keep it and hook it up to your TV as a media center. That's what I use my Mac Mini for. It's awesome. ----- Original Message ---- From: Charlie Arehart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, February 6, 2008 4:06:37 PM Subject: RE: [ACFUG Discuss] CF on a Mac--anyone have a system they want to sell? Thanks, Steven. Those are indeed some good deals. Bummer. I've pretty much committed to the guy selling me the mini at this point. I realize it's not up to the specs of those capabilities you describe, so I may regret it. But hey, I can resell it to someone and move up when I'm ready. Thanks for the education, folks. :-) Hope others benefit. /charlie ------------------------------------------------------------- Annual Sponsor - Figleaf Software <http://www.figleaf.com> To unsubscribe from this list, manage your profile @ http://www.acfug.org?fa=login.edituserform For more info, see http://www.acfug.org/mailinglists Archive @ http://www.mail-archive.com/discussion%40acfug.org/ List hosted by FusionLink <http://www.fusionlink.com> ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- Annual Sponsor - Figleaf Software <http://www.figleaf.com> To unsubscribe from this list, manage your profile @ http://www.acfug.org?fa=login.edituserform For more info, see http://www.acfug.org/mailinglists Archive @ http://www.mail-archive.com/discussion%40acfug.org/ List hosted by FusionLink <http://www.fusionlink.com> ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- Annual Sponsor FigLeaf Software - http://www.figleaf.com To unsubscribe from this list, manage your profile @ http://www.acfug.org?fa=login.edituserform For more info, see http://www.acfug.org/mailinglists Archive @ http://www.mail-archive.com/discussion%40acfug.org/ List hosted by http://www.fusionlink.com -------------------------------------------------------------
