: Yep. But now we don't know why. Oh, well... Tom is talking about transferring a file over a network, you were talking about transferring it to an attached storage device. In Tom's case, the operating system's file system drivers take care of reading the file in the computer's memory, Windows reading it's NTFS, Mac reading it's HPFS+ (?). After that, the network stack takes care of transporting the file and this is where the two computers communicate (in TCP/IP probably). In your scenario you were trying to make the Mac write to an NTFS volume, which it can't do. Hope that makes sense! /m
