Well, Steve, I don't know if you meant me in the "you guys", but I had said in my note yesterday (to which Doug was replying) that, "I really think it's just part of the economic times". I offered the rest because I do think a lot of people don't know about the fact that HS was written in Delphi, or some of the other facets of its history. It's a story I've told often, as I think it helps people understand some things about it.
As for what people will do, I suspect many will continue to use HS (or HS+ or CFS), just as I see many still using CFS 4, or 5. They won't really care that it's no longer supported/developed. But we'll see how the pricing of Bolt will go. I'm sure many will make the transition, and even more over time as the challenges of the transition are eased by a combination of things (docs, shared knowledge, blogs, demos, presos, etc.) /charlie From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Steve Drucker Sent: Sunday, July 05, 2009 10:58 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ACFUG Discuss] ColdFu...I mean Homesite is dead! With respect, I think you guys are over-thinking it. We are in the middle of the worst global recession since the Great Depression. Adobe's corporate profits are down...so much so that they've mandated a one week shutdown each QUARTER for North American employees to cut costs. These are the kinds of events that bring clarity to corporate vision, and I think we'd all be hard-pressed for making a valid argument as to why Homesite should continue to be supported, particularly with the wide availability of better tools. Besides, all you purists finally have a valid reason for going back to NOTEPAD. :-) ------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, manage your profile @ http://www.acfug.org?fa=login.edituserform For more info, see http://www.acfug.org/mailinglists Archive @ http://www.mail-archive.com/discussion%40acfug.org/ List hosted by http://www.fusionlink.com -------------------------------------------------------------
