Steven, I hear you raising a couple of concerns.

First, no, a new license is not required, if you are going from 2.0 to
2.0.1. Updaters (for CF and CFB) are always free.

Even if you installed CFB2.0.1 on a new computer, you would simply add your
2.0 license key to that, or it would revert to the free Express Edition
(losing some features of the paid edition).

But you refer to being "forced to download a trial". So is your concern
really more that you hoped the new release would be offered just as an
"updater", to be used over an existing install? I'll grant that that
download page makes no clarification about that, but knowing what I do
above, I just wouldn't have quite the same concern you do. Does the info
above help?

Finally, to be clear, there is no true "updater", but according to the
Install Guide for CFB2, in the section on installing the updater
(http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusionBuilder/2.0/Installing/WSf23b27ebc7b5
54b6-8233a4136623ee332-7fff.html), that one installer DOES detect if you
have the previous 2.0 release, and will offer to remove and replace it.
Still not quite truly an updater, but at least it does handle your
situation.

Again, I'll grant that the download page could make that more clear. We can
lament that it does not, but it's one of those things that I doubt we could
ever get changed.

Hope the info here is helpful enough to get you over the hump. Do let us
know what you think.

Subject: [ACFUG Discuss] download for CF builder 2 updater 1 -- requires new
license??

Hey all.. I'm an owner of CF Builder 2.0.0 (build 277745).. but I noticed
after logging into adobe.com.. that the link for updater 1 forces me to
download a "trial". Is Adobe forcing folks to purchase a new license to get
updater 1? Sorry, support person I spoke with on the phone wasn't helpful.

-Steve
