Yep, fair point. I don't know why they offered a full installer versus a true updater. I don't remember the previous one so will take your word for it that it was just an updater (do you mean 1.01?), though I know it is indeed true for CF updaters.
Anyway, I can confirm that I downloaded and installed the updater, over my current 2.o release, and all seems ok. It clarifies (during the installer) that it does preserve all settings (workspace, projects, server settings, etc.) That said, I notice that it does ask (on first load after the update) what workspace to use, so it's not somehow "remembering" what it was before the uninstall.
