You can write the your Flex code in Notepad if you like, and compile it with the Flex SDK (to generate the swf) and then use the AIR SDK's ADL and ADT tools.
* Using the mxmlc application compiler http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/2/docs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDocs_Parts&file=00001489.html
For the AIR SDK:
To run it (test it) from a command prompt it is something like this:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\airtraining\GoFly>"C:\Program Files\AIRSDK\bin\adl" gofly-app.xml
To package your AIR app from a command prompt:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\airtraining\GoFly>"C:\Program Files\AIRSDK\bin\adt" -package goflyAIR2.air gofly-app.xml .
* note the period (.) on the end - means package all of the files, and you may not reall want to do that.
Hope that helps a bit.

Subject: [AFFUG Discuss] Question about AIR and Flex 2
From: Davy Strube <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Given that Adobe "recommend"[1] using Flex Builder 3 to build AIR
applications but say it is possible to "reuse existing Flex 2 code"
in an AIR app,
my question is: Is it possible to create an AIR application without
having to install Flex Builder 3?
If so, how?
I've looked for an example where this is possible, but everything
I've found is either frustratingly inaccurate [3] or sadly out-dated [4]
I really do hope I don't have to install FB 3 because my company is
building an application in FB 2 that doesn't build right in FB 3. It
would be a HUGE pain to have to uninstall FB 2, install FB 3,
uninstall FB 3, then reinstall FB 2 every time I just want to test to
see if something is possible with AIR.
Thanks!
