been running la Vista here for about 6 months on a Dell lappy. Works fine
for me. Yes, it has some bugs, what SW doesn't? I don't bang to hard on
the OS though, I'm too busy coding to futz around. Copying large amounts of
files sucks in Vista, but SP1 is supposed to address that among other things
and looks to be going gold on Feb 15. The one thing that really irks me is
the bluetooth driver support from Dell. YMMV here as you may get a newer
bluetooth module if at all. It is known to be noticeably slower then Win
XP, is this noticeable when coding? I'd guess if gaming yeah, it'd suck.

IMHO, resistance to Vista is comparable to resistance to WinXP when it came
out which was comparable to say resistance to Win 3.1 even, eh? That said,
waiting for SP1 is prolly good, its around the corner now though.

Spec wise, 1.83 vs 2.1 speed of cpu is nothing, eh? But the cache on chip
is a Good Thing, I'd go with what is it a T7200 or better, they have 4MB on
board cache. Save your $$ and buy RAM seperately too. FYI, I'm pretty sure
the 820s still dock into the Dell D-Port which is super nice. Don't buy
from Dell though. I hit EBay and got one via PotatoPC for ~$55.

Finally...check out http://slickdeals.net...folks there know how to get good
deals at Dell, posting coupon codes and such.

Post Script: Ben Forta uses Vista, isn't that enough of approval? haha!
