Are you maybe using RSLs? If you've compiled a Flex 3 app and the RSL available is Flex 2? Are you using custom styles that may be loaded at run time? And if so were the non-embeded assets maybe not pushed up along with the app?
Other than simply checking that the XP machine has a fairly recent version of the Player (right click for context menu and pick About Flash Player 9), that's about all I can come up with. Let us know if you found something we should be looking out for. services-config.xml -no-cache-headers with ColdFusion 7?
