yes, typed objects. Have a CFC that represents the arguments needed. Have a AS object in Flex land that maps to this CFC via the RemoteClass meta attribute. This is assuming use of RemoteObject. If using webservices instead, this should also be doable. HTTP REST calls though you'd have a real pain in the neck IMHO.
