You'd have to have a 'default' item to be selected, so my suggestion would
be to add one in ActionScript in any load routine, or modify the XML/data
provider struct that is bound to component. If it's the first one loaded in
combobox, it should display regardless if the index is set to 0 or -1 at
that point. We usually use an ellipse {...}

Is it possible to set (or reset) the value of a BindableComboBox to null?
I'm pulling a list of values from a stored procedure but don't want the
combo box to default to the first one - the user needs to specify the one
they want.

I saw some blog entries about setting the selectedIndex value to -1, but it
still shows the first data item.
