One more piece of information. We really don't want to have separate compiles and we realize we can modify the xml at deployment time, but we are hoping for a more automated way.

What we want is to have our app use HTTP (non SSL) when we run on our developer boxes, and some of our QA environments. But when we run in our System Test or production we want to set it to use secure channel (HTTPS). What we were thinking was in our Application we read to see if we were gotten to via HTTP or HTTPS and set the channel dynamically.
