Corey; Working with Flex and Django is not difficult at all. I think what should be focused on is how the two technologies interact with each other whether with RESTful services, standard web services using SOAP or through remoting and web messaging technologies. In all Flex provides many different avenues with interacting with your back end services. With one of my contracts we used Django as the back end services with RESTful state interaction. Data was in JSON format which we handled with the AS3CoreLib on Google Code. The only thing I recommend when using any server side technology is to ensure you include your crossdomain.xml in the root of the server side app and also to serve out all static files through an HTTP server and not through the server app.
