ServiceEventMap, as suggested in the Mate documentation and in the notes
here. But I can tell that I need to break it down further, perhaps to the
point of using an EventMap that roughly corresponds to each of my back-end
services (i.e., a UserServiceMap, a SomethingElseServiceMap).

The logical divisions will probably become apparent as you work. Might
involve a little refactoring (as I'm about to do); but fortunately, because
of Mate's modularity, breaking one map out into two or more is pretty
simple.
