Thanks, I'll take a look at that blog. The numbers I gave were hit only
after about 6 minutes of using the app. Of course, knowing the app I knew
right where to go for big memory usage. Interesting is that IE had the best
memory management for my app. It was only slightly better than Chrome while
doing the same clicks in the app and over 100m better than Firefox.

Thanks again for the blog link. Hopefully I'll learn something. One thing
I already learned was the profiler really is not of much use for looking at
memory. I was able to rule out any memory leaks in my app though. I didn't
see anything hanging around that I did not expect.

Those numbers don't look too bad :) I once worked a emergency gig for two
weeks on a app that was causing IE to hit > 1GB of RAM after about 3 hours
of use! Use of the profiler is kind of a dark art too. I do recall IE not
releasing memory the Flash Player requested at times. Plus IE has other
issues at play, eh?

Anyhow, my goto guy for info on profiling and memory stuff is Jun Heider of
Realeyes Media. He has presented numerous times on using the profiler,
memory management, etc and has even wrote several chapters in Flex 3
Professional. His blog under this category is
http://www.iheartair.com/?cat=47

Adobe docs on this are also a main resource of mine for this
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/profiler_1.html

Good Luck!

Anyone have some good docs on Flex 3 memory usage? My app is showing:

In Profiler:

                Peak: 45m

                Current: 41m

System.totalMemory: 118m

Task Manager Browser: 463m

I know the Profiler in Flex 3 is not an accurate measure of memory at all,
and can be used to monitor instances and such. But I'm hoping to find some
good information on why such a huge difference from System.totalMemory and
the memory the Browswer is taking.

Thanks,

Dale
