I've had a few people suggest I'd get better write/read speeds in the GZ if
I ran a raid10 type zpool instead of raidz.

I finally got my disk controller squared away and am doing some testing
with different zpool configs.

I'm seeing better write speed with raidz than I am with a raid10 type zpool.

In both cases, I'm using 4x1TB disks and I'm writing to the /opt/ dir in
the GZ with dd=/dev/zero if=file.tst bs=1M count=15000

Then in another shell session, I'm running zpool iostat 1 and watching
write speed. With raidz I'm seeing 300-350mb/sec with a raid10 type setup
I'm seeing around 200-250 mb/sec/

Am I missing something or am I looking at performance wrong? Is the real
performance gain with the raid10 zpool when you are running multiple VMs or
some such?

Thanks,

Greg
