I apologize for creating the additional traffic and angst. I am not a developer and never will be but could see that I could assist the distribution by using my talents in other area's and due to the fact that I had been involved in a conversation in relation to mapping where servers were installed to be able to show how widely the distribution is used. Decide to have a go instead of waiting for others to step up.

I will bow out gracefully and discontinue this work.

Regards

Tony

As others have said this needs to be automatic or the information gathered isn't going to be anything like accurate. Even just counting installs isn't
particulary accurate. How do you know if any given install is a real,
lasting, one or just "lets have a look, naw don't like it" uninstall?

SMOLT died. That is the sort of thing that would make the stats gathered
useful. The replacement, census, doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

I agree with Dave. Either spend our time constructively and fix SMOLT, or address the need for triage and verifications instead of wasting time gathering unreliable statistics. Sorry to be critical, there are so few of us at the barricades at the moment, we need to focus.
