Could you send more details about the outline map problem?  What example
did you run?  Can you capture and post screen output using

  ssh root@nanonote cat /dev/fb0 > fbdump

I patched the plplot svgalib driver to work in truecolor mode; maybe I
missed some places where it still uses vga colors (which would appear as
extremely dark shades of blue).

Saw this, too.  No idea where it comes from.  Need to see whether
openwrt toolchain can build a remote-debug cabaple gdb.

This is real fun.  Porting software feels much more productive than
writing software from scratch :) BTW thanks for all the input.  Without
people who really use, test and report about the problems, everything
would be buggy like hell.

That's what's motivating me.  Looking forward to using the NanoNote
instead of having to carry a 2kg laptop with me.
