Managed switches are highly useful with pfsense. The cheapest managed switch (and fanless to boot) I've been able to find was Netgear GS108T (around $100).
I'm browsing through the web interface, and from the capabilities it looks rather good as far as Netgears go. Oh, and for some reason my WRAP suddenly started logging rrd graphs again. Weird, but in a good way.
