having been down this path at a company where we had 200,000 emails a day of which 98% were spam, we gave in and used postini. the relative cost of server hardware and the labour to manage them simply made a third party more cost effective. OTOH, if you want a complete mail package which integrates anti-spam, Zimbra is quite nice, even our non-tech marketing people like the webmail feature for when working remotely!
