wins by 1!

+1 to rename to displaytag2
-1 on backward compatible CSS - this release is too big, so we should
force
developers to upgrade their CSS too
+1 on a release...name it DisplayTag 2.0
+1 on trimming

I also think we should get in touch with Atlassian to get an opensource
JIRA
instance for DisplayTag, so I can start logging bugs for Fabrizio's code
(there are some minor problems).
Also, we should settle down on some development regulations such as
coding
conventions etc. I kinda dislike the _ 's fabrizio used, but that might
be
personal too.

Cheers,
Mathias

by

I only saw one additional vote since Wednesday - from Mathias.

So Fabrizio's tag wins with 2 votes vs. John's 1. Congrats to both as
you can tell they've put a lot of work into their respective branches.

Now for the next steps - here's how I see them. Sorry, but I won't have
any time to contribute with the new job starting on Monday.

1. Rename branch to displaytag2 - I believe this is the name we agreed
upon.

2. Add backwards-compatible CSS classes to default properties file. I
don't know if this is possible - but if not - we should write up some
good migration documentation.

3. Get a release out with the display2 branch. What do we version it
as? 2.0? 1.1? Do we continue supporting the "display" 0.8.5 branch or
just drop it? The Hibernate team keeps supporting it's 1.x branch -
this might be a good idea.

What do you guys think about trimming the list of developers? They
don't seem to be contributing - but is it rude to remove CVS access?

Basically, I'm proposing we remove the following developers:

Brad Smith
Gerhard Frhlich
Jay Paulsen
Tim Golden
Scott N. Smith

Thanks,

Matt

Subject: VOTE Tally

Here's the vote tally as I see it:

1 for table-york (Ben)
1 for display09 (me - for the ease of upgrade path)

This leaves the following folks who have not voted (minus Fabrizio and
John):

Brad Smith
Ed Hill
Joseph Ottinger
Gerhard Frhlich
Jay Paulsen
Tim Golden
Mathias Bogaert
Scott N. Smith

So we're tied, and as I stated earlier, we're not looking for quota on
this vote since most developers don't seem to be active on this project.
Once this vote is over, maybe we should remove the non-voting developers
from the project since they aren't adding any value. If this is taboo,
please let me know - I'm just trying to speed up the development process
here.

Matt
