If I had to proclaim a mission statement for DisplayTag, I would say:
"DisplayTag.org is the best source of custom tags for formatting your
data."
This means, first and foremost, more tags. autoLink, maxWords,
maxLength, and more and more.
DisplayTag should not have a controller framework. No controller, no
database access, etc. Just tags you would use to format data.
With DisplayTag, the simple tasks should be easy and the hard tasks
should be possible. It should still be easy to get up and going;
continue with the minimal config route; bring the tag attributes and
usage in line with the JSTL idioms.
There really isn't anywhere - aside from JSTL - to go out and get a set
of display tags that work well together. DisplayTag.org should be the
spot!
