displaytag IS jsp 1.1 compatible and ships with 2 different tlds, a 1.1 and a 1.2 version.
What problem did you see? Why the JspException use should not be jsp 1.1 compatible?

Sorry, my fault. I only saw the jsp 1.2 TLD in src/tld [i'm using a CVS version]. I'm not found the
1.1 version until now.
About the JspException, DisplayTag are using the "public JspException(String message, Throwable rootCause)"
constructor that I think that it's servlet 2.3+ compatible [http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/2.2/javadoc/].

Sorry for the annoyances, and thanks for your answer.
