Steven, You're obviously put a lot of work into this and your efforts are appreciated. I'd love to see your implementation when you're finished. If we decide this is not suitable for the core of displaytag, we should figure out a way to make extensions available to users. I'm sure a lot of folks would be interested in this functionality.
