FYI - I put together the first example (below) w/in the displaytag example app before rolling it into my own. I can add it to the example app if you'd like, or just leave it out. It does require including jstl.jar in WEB-INF/lib, but that's about the only modification to the WAR itself (save 1 new JSP).
