Reading your first email completely answered my question about how to
the the code to you. It has been attached to the Jira issue:

There is an updated .patch file for the main code and the ZIP contains
the displaytag-portlet module. To deal with the spring-sandbox
dependency for the mock objects I included the JAR with the module along
with instructions for installing it into your local maven repository in
the portlet.apt documentation.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to get this into CVS.

I will be happy to include your contribution in the displaytag

Your extensions could be added as a totally separate module
("displaytag-jsr168" or anything similar): if you want to help on this
you could try creating the module (copying from the
displaytag-export-poi actually in cvs), adding at least a simple
configuration how-to (apt format). Just prepare the project and add a
zip to JIRA, I will test and commit it.
