ISTR some work on that, but last I could find was dated around Sep 2009, and clearly it isn't done. Be nice to see some status info for that. [...] > - nfs lock manager - closed source. I recall asking about that some years ago, and getting a reply from someone (Casper?) to the effect that it would take quite a bit of doing to replace it with open code; time perhaps better spent some other way. I can kind of relate to that, because I recall back in SunOS 4.x days that NFS locking was quite prone to problems sometimes. So getting it right with replacement code might well be quite difficult, if even the folks that invented NFS had to struggle with it at one time. I _think_ NFSv4 locking will work without it. Everything I've heard of so far that's closed is closed either because Sun (Oracle) didn't have the rights to open it, or because of export controls. I have yet to hear about something that was closed just to make more work for everybody. :-) -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ distribution-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/distribution-discuss
