Andre, thanks for your help.

ptree doesn't show any ntp process

.exec section:
------------------
# launch network time daemon version 4
[ -f /etc/inet/ntp.conf -a -x /usr/lib/inet/ntpd ] && /usr/lib/inet/ntpd -p
/var/run/ntp.pid -g

starting manually seems to work:
ptree snippet
------------------
865 /usr/bin/rsync --daemon
877 mediatomb --interface e1000g0 --port 49152 --daemon --home
/opt/mediatomb/etc -
1031 /usr/lib/inet/ntpd -p /var/run/ntp.pid -g
-------------------------------

Fyi, I checked on my 2nd (and 1st) EON box, the same situation.
Both have been installed from
eon-0.600-130-64-cifs.iso

What to edit to make it start at boot?

Thx for helping out!

Erwin
