Hello OpenOffice.org,

Would just, firstly, like to congratulate you guys on making this
software so open and free and for maintaining it over the years, great
work, have been using it for years now and it gives me a lot of joy !

Thanks.

For my business proposal, to work, I need the following few questions
answers, please help me :

I would like to register a domain name url, to help me promote your
software, but need to know your trademark guidelines, for the chose of
name, ie.
Can I use openoffice, with a combination of other letters, for my domain
name ?

"OpenOffice," "Open Office" and so on are trademarks owned by others.

OpenOffice.org.za is already taken, btw. I'm cc'ing Craig Adams, who owns that url.

It may thus be best to use another name altogether. You would still be a community distributor, of course.

Would .com domain ending be ok, or .org be more appropriate ?

I would then need permission to distribute your software on CDRom ?

You have our permission, provided you abide by the rules. See the CDROM project for details.

May I also ask, would I be allowed to include a version of JRE (Java) on
this CDRom ?

Yes. The licenses for Java permit this.

How can I use your logos on my website ?

Yes, provided you do not title your website in a way that we can't defend.

Please let me know, where can I find a list of distributors in Africa ?

The cdrom website, <http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/> lists many. See also the .za site.

I would now appreciate your opinion on this matter, as soon as possible
, so I can then register my proposed website. We can then, work well
together for a common goal, of promoting the best software development
project, the world has seen, may it grow forever. Please allow me to
distribute your software in Africa and let's make the Mother continent,
more capable of doing business with the rest of the world.

Sorry for the short delay. However, in sum:

* I would rather a different name in the URL than "openoffice.org" plus something else. There is already a .za OpenOffice.org and it may make sense to combine forces.

I wish you guys all the best for the future and keep on growing !
Cheers
Don

best,
Louis
