I know that, I'm a musician, too..it was kind of a play on the fact that simple bikeshedding seems to turn into woodshedding i.e. it goes beyond the normal bikeshedding and becomes beating a dead bikeshed... I couldn't come up with a conjoined word fast enough so I just let it go as I wrote it.
