Hi Hussein,

I can wait three months or more for the next release. :)

I appreciate very much all your helpful responses. I have modified our
XSLT stylesheets to the extent that I just have a little work to do to
modify the headers/footers in the resulting docx files and I can
probably write a macro to make our bullets match our standards.

There is one more thing that I don't think I mentioned. Similar to
bullets being a different font and color than the text, our standard calls
for the numbers in steps being bold and blue, with no period following.
It would look something like this:

1 Text of a <cmd> sentence.

   a Text of a substep.
I don't know if you have any plans for future releases to parameterize
this type of formatting or not. Whether you do or not, I can fix in the docx
file before creating a pdf from the docx file.

Ditac/XML Utility has allowed me to get everything else formatting
fairly close to our standards, so I'm a happy camper so far.
I'm hoping to be able to now "sell" the dita concept to the
powers that be in my organization.

Thank you!
Julie

I don't think it is possible to achieve this without customizing the
XSLT stylesheet.

However, it's probably not difficult to enhance ditac (i.e.
http://www.xmlmind.com/ditac/_distrib/doc/manual/xsltParams.html#xsltParams__header-left)
to allow this. Therefore we'll probably implement this feature in next
release[*].

For now, the first page of a chapter has no %chapter-title%, which is
partly what you want.

However, you are right: this is indeed an omission. We'll implement this
feature for headers and/or for footers in next release[*].

[*] Please don't hold your breath. Next release of ditac/XSL Utility is
not expected before at least 3 months.
