20W * 2 is somewhat exaggerated when the power input says 12v 2A = 24w and given some losses even in a class d amp say 8w per channel ,btw don't most of these small class D amps have creative power specs :D thats a part of the game ,just like these htib system you find at the supermarket . But do keep in mind the SPL and decibel are logaritmic the mean level even when playing loud with normal music is about a couple of watts the other 200wpc in you hifi is for reproducing clean transients and other wave forms with low crest factor so that it also sound good at high levels . Low power amp will sound muddy and not clean at higher spl , but not that much lower. Doubling the power gives gives you 3dB more 10 times the power gives 10dB more if the speakers don't power compress which they all do . (also a clipping and over driven amp can give other nasty signals and fry speakers , lot of hf components and possibly also DC offset.) But these amps are great for this purpose :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97478 _______________________________________________ diy mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/diy
