I've been running my empeg with Squeezeslave for the past couple years now in my camper van. I love it!
I wanted a simpler system to install in my old Subaru. No fancy SSD, and it needs to go to sleep so it doesn't drain the battery. Now that the price of microSD flash memory has come down, I've decided to get a 64GB card and a Cubieboard. Here's some pics. But you can see it takes hardly any room in the glove box. The circuit I made is to power the unit from 12V, as well as trigger the power button to wake up the unit when I switch the car on. I wrote a Python script to handle the power off duties, it looks for SSH connections and delays the power off (when it's doing rsync). Since it goes to sleep, it will also wake up for it's nightly rsync with the RTC and then go back to sleep. This way I can sync any new podcasts to listen to on the drive to work. I'm still working on this part. For those curious, power consumption is 1.8 watts (with USB WiFi) and 0.08 watts when in suspend-to-RAM. My normal car battery can power this for a whole year when suspended! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rpress's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31544 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89844 _______________________________________________ diy mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/diy
