My point is (as well as trying to improve the query capabilities) that if we are going to change the query syntax we should also improve the query capabilities. The ideal syntax would be extensible (I think your suggestion is more extensible than the current query, for example) as well as clear and easy to use. I'm not saying it can't be done with what you have proposed, but I think extensibility should be the primary goal of changing the syntax, and the secondary goals should be clarity/readability and ease of use (knowing that currently these things are OK, just not great). -rob
