Hello, If you just want to use the model API, there is no problem . Just follow the example at http://www.djangoproject.com/documentation/tutorial1/#playing-with-the-api
You just have to setup (in __init__.py by example) DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE env variable. Then you'll be able to import your models without running django manager. That's exactly what I'm doing with my Qomics (french comics strip collection manager). You can checkout sources with bazaar-ng : $ bzr get http://arch.gna.org/qomics/official/qomics Django stuff is in py/qodb directory. Beers.
