let me add the Akismet is not a solution, it looks like it has become part of the problem. It doesn't keep the spam out to a degree that could be ignored, but now it keeps me from opening tickets (yes, I sent the mail to Tom after digging through my email archive for his address--the whitelist procedure is not documented properly). A matter of minutes now takes hours. I'd rather simply have a login procedure than go through *that*.
