In the meantime, I would suggest opening a ticket for the Schema Evolution feature (like the #2333 ticket for the test framework) - This provides a common place to keep patches, etc related to the project until such time as a branch is made available. You don't _have_ to have a branch to implement a big feature (as the test framework demonstrates) - it's just helpful if a lot of people need to coordinate their efforts.
