Is it possible to reword the introduction on the Django Book website (http://www.djangobook.com/) or perhaps somehow update it?
There's been several recent threads on Django Users from people who have followed along the book. And unsurprisingly, they ran into issues with Django 1.0+. A search on Google for "django book" returns that site as the first result, so it's a pretty easy resource for people wanting to learn Django to find. Right now, the intro on that site says: "To the extent possible, *this book covers Django 0.96 and higher*. We've tried to write things in a forward-compatible way." What if what was changed to: "This book covers Django 0.96. *This book does not cover Django 1.0 or higher*. For the latest documentation, please visit http://docs.djangoproject.com/" Obviously not everything in the book is outdated, but there are some significant sections that new users would come across -- such as the admin -- that I feel it would be better to unambiguously direct them to documentation we *know* to be completely up to date. -- --- David Zhou [EMAIL PROTECTED] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Django developers" group.
