Trying to solve (and it is solved now) my problem I found the undocumented formfield_for_manytomany in contrib/admin/options.py I think it is noteworth and I think it should be mentioned along with http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/admin/#django.contrib.admin.ModelAdmin.formfield_for_foreignkey
