This looks like some sort of error in your environment; I can't reproduce it::

    $ ./manage.py shell
    In [1]: import decimal

    In [2]: class F(object):
       ...:     d = decimal.Decimal('0')
       ...:

    In [3]:

    $ ipython

    In [1]: import decimal

    In [2] >>> class F(object):
       ...:     d = decimal.Decimal('0')
       ...:

    In [3]:
