I know this is maybe a little late to chime in, but as opinion on this
seems to be heavily divided as to whether empty files should be allowed,
would it not just be best all-round to add a way to define whether empty
files should be allowed or not?
Surely this wouldn't be too hard (I'd be willing to work on this if I get
a few moments here-and-there).
