The patch doesn't apply cleanly (or even after a little hitting with
hammers) to the 1.0.X branch. I've said in the past that I won't backport
anything that doesn't apply cleanly there. So if you guys also want to
update the 1.0.X version, you'll need to create a separate patch.
You'll also see that I've fixed the AUTHORS portion of this patch when I
applied it (as David noted -- names are ordered by surname).
