This ticket is a bit short on details and the situation has
[https://code.djangoproject.com/log/django/trunk/django/shortcuts/__init__.py
improved significantly over the last three years].
In particular, the `render` shortcut was introduced at r15008.
So I think we can consider this ticket fixed.
