 I like that ABC-approach. It seems very clean and nice. If you can write a
 patch for all backends I think this will have a high chance of getting
 into Django 1.5. The patch passes at least the "usual suspects" tests on
 PostgreSQL. Running the full test suite now...

 This naturally needs tests also, and maybe a sentence in the docs, too.
