I have Postfix 2.4.5 running in production (has been for a long time) with dkim-milter; the latest DKIM milter version is 2.4.0Beta4 (at the moment we test everything and building and installing rpms is no more than a few seconds' work, likewise reverting). There is no doubt that Postfix milter protocol should be 2. Otherwise diverse nasty things happen. Seek and find the Sendmail >= 8.14 libmilter. Do not go further until you've got that working. As I wrote, rpms are a cinch.
